Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

Review can also be found on Goodreads.

Nimona follows the story of Nimona, a shapeshifting girl with a bloodthirsty side, and Lord Ballister, a villain who really doesn't want to be a villain. Throughout the book we follow Nimona and Ballister as they try and take down the Institution, all while figuring out big secrets about each other.

I really loved Nimona as a character. She's witty and adorable with a hunger for mURDER. The way that she would act when it came time for a battle, and how she utilized so many different shapes/animals/people throughout the novel was really cool. Especially her first shift, gosh that was funny.

Ballister, I feel, was someone that took a little while for me to warm up to. He definitely reminded me of another character that I've read recently (although I'm not able to place who it is at the moment D: ). The relationship that developed between him and Nimona was really something, as well as the way we found out more of the relationship between him and Ambrosius.

I think that the plot for this novel was extraordinary and the artwork really fit it. It was definitely a great book, and I hope to reread it again sometime.

The Amazing Book Is Not on Fire by Dan Howell and Phil Lester

Review can also be found on Goodreads.

Wowie, it has been a long time since I last finished a book. I'm so glad that I actually have started reading again thought! That's enough about me though, let's start talking about the book.

The Amazing Book Is Not on Fire was a great book. I've been watching Dan and Phil's videos on Youtube for a couple years, and I've loved it. They are great people, and are very easy to connect with. I feel like this book was just a bunch of youtube videos compiled into a book.

Throughout the book we learnt more about big parts of their lives, while also having fun. We learnt all about their college experiences and what it was like in Japan or Las Vegas or even just moving out of Manchester. I was very intrigued the whole time I was reading. Dan and Phil are both very amusing people, and The Amazing Book Is Not on Fire definitely just as good as they are.

All while they were explaining their lives, they would include things to keep us interested or thinking, or just smiling and laughing.

Overall, it was a great book and I'm so proud of them for writing it.

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey

Review can also be found on my Goodreads.
*4.5 stars*

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey was a great read, I'm very upset with myself that I've put off reading it for so long. I finished it in two sittings, and I'm itching for more! I can't wait for the next book.

The Infinite Sea picks up from where The 5th Wave ends, following the lives of Cassie and the crew, although this novel focuses on Ringer in particular. I loved finding out more about Ringer and her life. I've always been intrigued by her character, so getting this look into her was very pleasant.

I love the fact that Cassie still hung to Evan, even though there weren't many indications that he would be coming back. The trust that she had for him was amazing, although it seemed to be a little silly at times.

Ben definitely continued with his leader-type character, regardless of the many set backs that they dealt with (with him in particular). I wouldn't say that he's the perfect leader, because there are many instances where he obviously doing the right thing, but he's pretty damn close.

I think that I developed a deep caring for all of the characters while reading this novel (although my heart will always be sworn to Evan haha.). I was definitely on the edge of my seat during certain parts.

Rick Yancey definitely hasn't let me down with The Infinite Sea, and I'm urgently awaiting the release of the third and final installment of The 5th Wave trilogy.

The Memory Game: A Ghost Story Like No Other... by Sharon Sant

**I received a copy of The Memory Game from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
Review can also be found on Goodreads

So while reading this, I had many conflicting emotions. I really enjoyed the concept of the whole ghost aspect. I thought the author's take on what happens after death was pretty cool. I've always wondered what happened after you die, so this aspect is definitely something that I can keep in mind.

I liked the characters, and how David gradually found out more about each of the characters, and how he progressed, while still being the same in some ways. I like how he still showed affection towards his past family members, while growing affection towards different characters at the same time.

The one thing that I really didn't like about the ending was how cliché it was. I mean, I was really looking for something different, and not lovey-dovey like most other books, but I really didn't find that with this one. Although, while saying that, the ending did make me cry a little.

At the end of the novel, I felt a little bit empty and couldn't really do much. I'm taking that as a good sign, and I hope that others got the same feeling while reading this.

Burn Girl by Mandy Mikulencak

**I received a copy of Burn Girl from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
Review can also be found on Goodreads

I'm so glad that I've been having such luck with NetGalley arc reads. Every single one that I have read so far has been great! This may not have been my favourite, but it was definitely a good read. I don't know why I put off reading it for so long, because it was definitely worth the time that I spent reading it.

Arlie is a sixteen year old girl who has a scar that covers half of her face. In the sudden suicide of her mother, she is forced into society and having a normal life, or so she thought.

I definitely thought of Everything That Makes You while reading this, as the main characters both had burn scars that covered half of their faces. I like the scar concept, as many people who bare scars feel as though they are ugly, and they want to hide them, but these stories show that they can be beautiful.

Arlie is an amazing character, so is Mo. I honestly loved Mo. She was so supportive, and seemed like a real person, and acted how a best friend acts in real life. Arlie was a little problematic in my eyes at some times, but, I think the relationship that she developed with her uncle, Frank, really shows how trust builds with someone who cares about you (despite just meeting).

I think one of the things that was a little off-putting for me while reading this was the progression of the time. You could never really tell what time it was, and how long the gap between the two chapters was. If you can overlook that, it really is a good read.

One more thing that I didn't really enjoy was how the relationship Cody and Arlie progressed. I feel it was a little too quick paced to feel real. It may just be because I didn't understand the time progressions, but, it may also just be the author writing in a way that didn't make much sense.

Overall, I think this was a nice read, although it did deal with lots of mature themes. I would take caution before reading this.

Ghosts in the Graveyard by Robert Ropars

**I received a copy of Ghosts in the Graveyard from Goodreads First Reads**
Review can also be found on Goodreads

I had really high hopes for this book. I really liked the concept of this story, but I think that it could have been written much better. It was pretty difficult for me to read this novel, as there was a large amounts of errors (the author addressed the wrong character a few times during the novel). I understand it is an arc, so it isn't the finished/polished edition of the novel, but, I think that the editors should have picked up on that.
Ghosts in the Graveyard is about three girlfriends who played a game of "Ghosts in the Graveyard". One of the children goes missing, and their twin is left with the pain and blame for their kidnapping. Fast forward ten years, to the anniversary of the child's kidnapping. Strange things start happening to Ari, our main character, when she goes to visit her missing friend's gravestone. Follow the story of Ari and what she goes through in her life.
Overall, I can understand why some people loved this book, because it definitely had potential. I'm so grateful for having the opportunity to read this novel, I just think that it should be tweaked a little bit :/

The book overall was very short, and I got confused at the ending of the novel. It sort of sorted itself out in the end, but, it was still quite frustrating. The story definitely did move at too quickly of a pace (even for a short novel). The novel is in the horror genre, but, I didn't really get the scary vibe while reading.

Are You Still There by Sarah Lynn Scheerger

I received a copy of Are You Still There from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Review also found on Goodreads.

I really enjoyed Are You Still There. It was quite a thrilling read, and I think its gotten me into mystery novels. Well, I've read a few mystery novels that have the same theme in the past few days, and its really gotten me intrigued.

Gabi's school just had a bomb threat, but luckily it was defused before anything too bad could happen. Many people took this hard, resulting in a helpline being made in the school. Gabi is one of the students who is selected to work for the helpline, that's where they learn that the bomb may not have been the extent that the bomb threat went to.

Are You Still There was a very interesting read, and quite different from other school mystery novels that I have read. I loved the logs from Stranger, and also the other problems that Gabi had to deal with all while dealing with the bomber.

I was definitely changing who I thought the bomber the whole time I was reading the novel. In the end, I think I had four different ideas of who I thought it was. In the end, when they revealed who the bomber was, I wasn't too surprised, yet, still surprised at the same time.

Overall, I think that Are You Still There was a great read, and I'm looking forward to reading more novels like this.

Come Sit By Me by Thomas Hoobler

Review can also be found on Goodreads.

I received a copy of Come Sit By Me from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was really interested in reading this book when I first saw it on Netgalley. The cover and the description both reminded me of Tate Langdon from American Horror Story in many ways. The cover was so beautiful, I was drawn to it.

Come Sit By Me is a story about a boy named Paul, who moves to a town struck with a terrible accident. There was a murder of 7 people in the library of their high school, and the killer is left dead. No one knows what triggered it, but Paul is determined to find out as much as he can, and it proves to be harder than it seems.

The concept of this novel was amazing, and I really enjoyed it, until I got to Caleb`s book... The writing was honestly horrid. I get that he was slower, and not able to write very well, but I got a horrible headache while reading that section. I`m so glad that it was a short section of the novel.

Pauls character was alright, although he seemed problematic at times. As well as Terry and North, not so much Terry, but at times, boy did she get on my nerves. Honestly, I feel like Cale was one of my favourite characters (except when I was reading his writing :P). Cale`s character just had so much detail and effort put into him, and I really enjoyed that.

Overall, Come Sit By Me was an alright read, I did enjoy some parts of it, but other parts were just a bore for me.

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

Review can also be found on Goodreads.

I read The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness from August 12th until August 17th.

The Knife of Never Letting Go was a very conflicting read for me. At the beginning, I wasn't able to really get into to it much. I think the spelling and overall grammar really got me at first, but slowly towards the middle of the book, I got used to it and just understood what the author meant. The first line of the book really did set the story in motion.

The character development between all the characters individually, and together was really something else. I really found Todd to be a problematic character for the first little while, but then I realized, I would probably act the exact same way that Todd had if everything I knew had changed. Todd's feelings for Manchee as the story progress was really a bittersweet moment for me.

I'm really looking forward to reading the second book, bUT CHAPTER'S ONLY HAS THE FIRST AND THIRD. UGGGHHH ;P

When by Victoria Laurie

Review also found on Goodreads.

I read When by Victoria Laurie from August 25th until August 28th, and I could hardly put it down.

I really loved When. I was super intrigued when I first heard about it. It's something that I haven't read yet, so I immediately got it. I was so pleased with this book.

Maddie Fynn is a 16 year old girl who can read people's death dates. That may sound pretty awesome, but it definitely came with downsides. While most people took it easily, there were a few who took it hard. When children started disappearing after Maddie had read their dates, people start suspecting things.

When kept me on my toes the whole time. There was so much character development, and my thoughts on who it was changed all the time. I was very surprised in the end with who the bad guy was.

I especially loved how Maddie acted. She definitely seemed acted how any other 16 year old girl would act. And with the last chapter? Let's just say I was squealing with excitement aha.

Everything That Makes You by Moriah McStay

Review also found on Goodreads.

I read Everything That Makes You by Moriah McStay between August 22 and August 24, and I felt a little changed after reading it.

Reading Everything That Makes You was a very strange experience. I love the idea of alternate worlds or universes, so I was very excited to read Everything That Makes You, and this has really set the bar for future alternative world novels.

I was conflicted between which was my favourite of the two worlds. At times Fi was living the ideal life of hte two, and then sometimes Fiona had the dream life. In the end, I think I enjoyed Fiona's story a little bit more. Although I cried while reading Fi's story (oh my god it was so sad), I still felt that Fiona's story tugged more at my heart strings.

I loved how there were little bits from the two worlds that stayed the same, or at least sort of the same. It was so cool when you could see the difference and similarities between the two worlds.

Overall, I really loved the idea of this story, and how it makes you think that if you hadn't done this one thing, how different your life would be right now.

I Hate Myselfie: A Collection of Essays by Shane Dawson

Similar review also found on Goodreads.

I read I Hate Myselfie: A Collection of Essays by Shane Dawson between June 28th and July 1st, and I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I Hate Myselfie is a novel consisting of 18 "essays" about important moments in Shane's life. Each chapter is a new essay and a different part of Shane's life. All the essays are full of his, unique, sense of humour, and while most of the dialogue seems far fetched, you can tell that it's still mostly serious. I Hate Myselfie portrays a side of Shane that we don't usually see through his YouTube videos.

While I actually really enjoyed reading this, although I think that others might have a problem with it. Shane's jokes may be a little crude at times, and I think that you have to understand that he's just joking to be able to enjoy this novel.  I do understand why people wouldn't enjoy reading this as it is a little offensive in parts, but, it's not that bad if you have seen his Youtube videos. I personally love his Youtube videos, as well as his movie "NotCool", so I think that's one of the reasons that I enjoyed it.

I would constantly start laughing from this book. The way that he expressed himself was humorous while still conveying his point/story. I also really loved how he included art work from his fans, because it shows how connected he is with them.

If you'd like to pick up a copy I Hate Myselfie, you can check your local Walmart, Chapters, or order it on Amazon.
